Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissionerate’s Assistant Commissioner of Police ( Hubballi South), sub division, Vijaykumar Talwar, has been suspended in connection with the murder case of Anjali Ambiger.
The government has already suspended DCP M Rajeev, Bendigeri Inspector CB Chikkodi, and head constable Rekha Havaraddi in connection with the case. Home Minister G Parameshwara, who was in Hubballi on Monday, had stated that the department would not hesitate to take action against any official who was found not to have taken sufficient action in this case. Soon after his press conference, the suspension order was issued. Vijayakumar Talwar had joined as an ACP just over a year ago.
Anjali Ambiger was brutally stabbed to death at her grandmother’s house in Veerapur Oni by the accused Girish Sawant. Her murder, within a month after Neha Hiremath was brutally stabbed on the BVB College campus, sent shockwaves across the state. The opposition has been blaming the state government and charging that the state’s law and order situation is crumbling with each passing day.
